Alcoholic Beverages

The Zybell House does not hold a license to sell alcoholic beverages. Guests may bring their own, but for the safety and comfort of all our guests, please drink responsibly. There are several establishments to purchase locally as well.

Cancellation

A deposit of half the total due is required to confirm a reservation. The remaining balance is due upon arrival, or 30 days prior to arrival for peak dates. There are no refunds for early checkouts or changes on arrival unless you notify us at least 7 days in advance. Cancellations must also be made 7 days prior to the arrival, except for peak dates which require 30 days’ notice. Failure to meet these deadlines will result in a forfeiture of the deposit. Cancellations may be charged a $25 administrative fee. Special deposit and cancellation procedures may apply for wedding parties, and peak dates.

Check-in

Rooms will be available after 3:00 p.m. but we may be able to accommodate your luggage if you arrive earlier. Our typical check-in procedure it to provide you with an access code for the front entrance so that you can let yourself in at your convenience. If your arrival time changes due to weather or other delays, please keep us updated so we can arrange a quick and stress-free check-in.

Check-out

Our check out time is 11:00 a.m. so that we can prepare our rooms for arriving guests. Arrangements can be made to store luggage to be picked up later in the day.

Disability Accessibility

The front entrance to the home is up a short flight of stairs and all guestrooms are on the second floor of the house. We are working toward increasing the accessibility of the Zybell House, but in the short term, we try to accommodate our guests’ special needs to the best of our ability. If you would like to talk more about this, please contact the Innkeeper at 217-898-5401.

Kids

The Zybell House was designed with kids in mind – and it’s been tested by our four-year-old! We want them to enjoy their stay, but we need them to be safe. Please be respectful of other guests who may be staying in the house and help your kids avoid behavior that is dangerous or inappropriate.

Minimum stay

During the major events at the University of Illinois and many major holidays, there may be a two-night minimum stay required. If you are interested in a whole house rental, there is a two-night minimum for weekend reservations. Refer to our booking calendar for clarification.

Missing Keys

Missing keys are a security issue. There is a $50 fine for any set of missing keys.

No Pets

The Zybell House property is a pet-free facility. We love our furry friends, but we try to maintain an allergen-free property so that all guests can enjoy their stay. Extra charges will be incurred if this policy is not honored.

No Smoking

The Zybell House property is a smoke-free facility. We try to maintain an allergen-free property so that all guests can enjoy their stay. Extra charges will be incurred if this policy is not honored.

Parking

There is free public parking available on Independence and Livingston streets, which border the house to the north and the west. There are also free off-street parking lots to the west and north of the house.

Shortened Stays

If a multi-day reservation is shortened, the rate reverts to the appropriate nightly rate. A cancellation fee of $50 will be charged for cancellations on peak dates.
